Friday Favorite: Pictures from our NYC Trip

Since we got back from our big California Adventure last March, Hubby and I had been debating what to do for our next vacation.  We debated different countries & different cities and all the things we could see.  I made lists of museums, zoos, local attractions.  And then we realized that a top tourist destination with all of the types of things we wanted to do was a little over an hour from our home.  We could save the airfare, spend a little more on (tiny NYC) accommodations, and enjoy a staycation.

The boys and I go to the city often for their modeling stuff, but we rarely do more than grab a bite to eat and hit a playground.  Hubby and I stayed in the city together a few times before we had kids, but it always revolved around a sporting event or concert.  This would give us an opportunity to do things we have never done and see things we haven't seen since grade school field trips.
We visited A LOT of playgrounds.

JD slept through it, but O was very excited to see South Street Seaport

A happy meal.

At the Children's Zoo in Central Park

Spending the evening with my best friend.

Digging for dinosaur bones at the American Museum of Natural History.

"Take a picture of MEEEEEEEEE!"

Riding the bear at Chelsea Piers.

This was a great reinforcement to that Sesame Street lesson with Super Grover and the elephant & sheep in the boat.  Know what I mean?

I love stumbling across things like this.  Both man & dog were adorable and talented.

We did more sightseeing at this construction site than we did at the museum.

Carriage ride through Central Park.  And this may make an appearance on the Christmas card.

This curious horse came right up onto the sidewalk and sniffed all around our stroller.  O did not appreciate it!
We did so much in such a short time, walked what felt like 100s of miles back and forth & up and down across Manhattan, and we really got to know a few areas of the city better.  I was able to show Hubby a lot of the places the boys and I hang out, and we saw some touristy things we had never seen before, even though we've lived here all our lives.  I can't wait until the boys are a little older so we can share even more- like Knicks games, Broadway, and the ballet!

  1. I think it's so neat that you live so close to NYC. I've never even been before, but want to so bad. Looks like you guys had a great time!
